Two new information boards have been put up in our parish, one in Lower Walton, on the village green and one in Higher Walton, outside the entrance to Walton Hall & Gardens. Titled 'About Walton', the purpose of the boards is to tell some of the story of our parish in terms of its history and local landmarks. Walton is quite unique in having two villages that each date back to early medieval times.

Lower Walton and Higher Walton have evolved in different ways; Higher Walton with the close connection to the Greenall estate and Lower Walton with the arrival of the Manchester Ship Canal. The parish council was keen to tell the story in a way that is clearly visible to both residents and visitors to the parish. What better way to appreciate our parish than walking around it. The information boards include details of two local walks with QR codes that link to route details on the Parish Council website.

The boards were installed free of charge, courtesy of Tarmac, Warrington and Walton Hall & Gardens. Specific thanks to Darren Plant, Jonathan Preidt, Stuart and Darren at Tarmac and Neil Simpson and Sean Kelly at Walton Hall & Gardens.
